Season 1

Season One- The season one throws some light on past life of Mr. Adrian Monk, who has got Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, after his wife Trudy’s murder. He is suffering from several phobias and that makes his character interesting in the series. Previously, he was working with San Francisco Police, but now the department is hesitating to put him back on duty, until he recovers. So he starts working as a free lancer. His disorder and enhanced photographic memory enables him to connect two murder cases, and he astonishes everybody by solving that twin murder mystery.

In further episodes, he encounters a murder case where culprit is too corpulent to move from bed. Monk is obsessed to prove him innocent and his assistant/nurse Sharona helps him out. Due to his phobia of height, a culprit successfully absconds and puts Monk’s capabilities into question. Later, he is found cooking at his dead wife’s home, so cops lodge him into an asylum, where he runs into some clues about a doctor’s murder. He has to convince authorities about the authenticity, because they conceive it as his hallucination.

A suspect of a murder case resembles Monk’s dead wife Trudy, therefore he puts his life at risk to prove her guilty, but eventually gets convinced that she is a culprit. In the second last episode, Monk again solves a foggy murder case by proving it an accident. Finale episode is absolute fun. In this episode, Monk travels in a flight and due to his phobias asks anxious questions from fellow passengers. He creates a scene by accusing a man of murdering his wife, while his wife is sitting next to him.

Best Episode- ‘Mr. Monk and the Candidate’

Ratings kept fluctuating throughout the season, but the pilot episode earned the highest ratings. This episode introduced the viewer with Adrian Monk’s past and present, in short with his personality. His phobias, disorders and reasons behind it are disclosed in this episode, along with his amazing psychic abilities of observing the cases from a different perspective.
